Bob Mitchell : Accomplishments & Career Highlights
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Maryland and a Masters degree from the Catholic University of America
- Entered the homebuilding profession in 1972, and formed his own company in 1975 now known as Mitchell & Best Homebuilders where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO
- Created and presided over an affiliated residential design/build remodeling company and a custom homebuilding company
- Served as President of the Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association for 3 years
- Served as President of the Maryland Builders Association for 2 years
- Received the "Lifetime Achievement" Award - presented by the combined building associations of Suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia in 1996
- Served as President of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) in the year 2000
- Founder of Home Builders Care, the community outreach arm of the NAHB
- Serves on the Board of Directors of Sandy Spring National Bank
- Has served on the Governor's Housing Policy Commission and other task forces
- February 2003, was named by Governor Robert Ehrlich to the Board of Regents of the University System of Maryland
- May 2006, inducted in the NAHB Housing Hall of Fame
- Bob and Marlene, his wife of 47 years, have 4 grown children (all of whom serve in management roles at Mitchell & Best) and 6 grandchildren
